People

The Wolves Foundation is delighted to announce that Granada News has visited The Halliwell Jones Stadium with a massive cheque for £45k!

We would like to thank the town for getting behind the charity and picking up the phone to vote! We couldn't have done it without our supporters.

Natalie Hargreaves, Wolves Foundation Fundraising Manager, said: 'We are thrilled to bits that we have won the People's Millions and I would like to personally thank all those people in our community who voted for a project that will benefit the children of our town. I would also like to thank the Foundation staff who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, including the Trustee's - and in particular Terry O'Neill and Pat Kitto. The Whitegate Children's Centre project is a very worthy cause and we hope that they obtain the funds for their building in the very near future.'

The Wolves Foundation would also like to thank the local businesses that got behind the project including Top Print who kindly donated flyers to help with the publicity campaign. A big thank you to the PCT and Warrington Borough Council for their help. Also, to the following supermarkets and restaurants who allowed us to canvas, made tannoy announcements and generally got behind the campaign: Asda Cockhedge, Asda Birchwood, Asda Westbrook, Tesco, Sainsbury's, McDonald's Westbrook and McDonald's Winwick Road. Thanks must also go to Evelyn Street Primary School and Foxwood School.

The funds will now allow the Foundation to run holiday camps at six venues around the town including one for children with disabilities in 2010. The work will be supported by the Wolves Foundation coaches and volunteers from the local hostels. These volunteers will be skilled in coaching, first aid and leadership, and new work/life skills will be learnt for future use.
